In London, Kellogg’s Special K, a brand typically sold in supermarkets, created their very own brick-and-mortar store to sell their new Crisps. But unlike typical retailers, the Tweet Shop sells chips for social currency, and visitors must tweet a special hashtag “#tweetshop” to receive a bag of chips. While the idea of “pay with a tweet” is nothing new (we’ve seen a similar service from American Express) it typically lives in the digital space. But using social currency to pay for items in the real world has the potential to outlive this Special K Pop-up Shop.
