Heineken was looking to create a new way for people to engage with their product – and instead of turning to a mobile app, they created a physical object instead. The end result is the Smart Beer Bottle, which uses microsensors to detect motion and causes the bottle to light up, syncing to music, a person’s dancing, or other social interactions. The interesting piece to this new product is that it was launched simply as a prototype, the result of Heineken and their agency, Tribal DDB embracing the startup culture and experimentation.The brand introduced the beer bottle at Milan Design Week, but they plan to continue iterating and concepting to determine ¬†how consumers might use it in the future.
